Berto offers private lessons in person in Charlottesville, Va and via Skype for students in other parts of the world. He is passionate about teaching students of all ages in a variety of styles, from Brazilian music and Spanish guitar to American pop and rock.
Berto’s study of guitar spans more than 30 years. His degree in classical guitar performance provided a strong foundation in technique for fluid and easeful playing, as well as an in depth understanding of music theory.

Berto’s study of guitar spans more than 30 years. His upbringing in Brazil exposed him to the richness of regional Brazilian styles such as samba, choro, bossa nova, and baiao. His private study of Spanish Flamenco continues to feed a passion for this expressive style. His degree in classical guitar performance and experience teaching in the university setting gave him the knowledge and technique to share his skills with others. He is known for his depth of knowledge, positive energy and enthusiasm as a teacher.
